Senior Karl Boothman has been named a 2011-2012 USA Rugby Academic All-American. Nominees must be junior or senior first team players with at least a 3.7 GPA. Boothman is one of 13 players on the list from Big Ten institutions.
As a junior, Boothman contributed to the Michigan squad in 13 games, playing wing and scrumhalf. Karl previously had played flanker. He is also the club’s vice-president. Boothman is from Ann Arbor and played his high school rugby for the local Washtenaw RFC. Karl is poised for a successful senior season and should challenge for multiple positions in the team’s back line.
