Travis has served this past year as the club’s Vice President and has been an integral part of the top 23 as a hooker. Travis has been a terrific club officer and has overseen or been involved was on the Collegiate Rugby Championship planning committee, a previous treasurer, and made the top 14 for the CRC training squad. Below is more about the 5th year from Grand Rapids!

Why Rugby?: Rugby caught my attention after my brother decided to play his senior year of high school. I started playing my freshman year of high school and fell in love with the physicality, the free flowing nature of the game and the overall camaraderie and culture around the sport.

What have you liked about Michigan Rugby the most so far?: My favorite part of Michigan Rugby has been getting to know and have good times with the other guys on the team along with having the opportunity to work on the administrative sides of things for the club.

Most memorable moment on the pitch?: Although its not a good one, the most memorable moment on the pitch was when Ohio State held up our try last season to steal the win from us.

What’s your favorite rugby drill in practice? Least Favorite?: My favorite drill is tackling in the tracking grid and my least favorite drill is having to get tackled is the  tracking grid.

What other sports have you played?: In high school I also played Football and wrestled.

In 5 years, what do you see yourself doing?: I see myself living in a big city and starting my own company at some point.

What are some embarrassing childhood memories you can share with us?: When my family was visiting Colorado I was super excited to have found a geode along the trail only to be mocked by my brothers after they told me that they had planted it there.

Favorite place in Ann Arbor?: The law quad

Biggest fear?: most types of living crustaceans

Favorite food/meal: Pizza and pasta
