Why did you decide to play Rugby: I was never intending to play rugby however during festifall, a club recruiting event at Michigan I was grabbed out of the crowd and was told I should play rugby. I decided to go to a practice that week and determined that it was fun and kept showing up. The sport was a lot of fun and all of the guys on the team were awesome.
What have you liked about Michigan Rugby so far? My favorite thing about Michigan rugby so far is the love and inclusion from teammates. Whether it’s your first practice or you’ve been around for a while everybody is extremely friendly and fun, and it is a joy to play with the guys that are on the team.
Describe your most memorable moment on the field: My most memorable moment on the field was playing 15’s against MSU’s B side. All of the guys on the field left their hearts out there, it was an electric game and we got the result we were looking for. It’s always fun to win chippy games especially against a rival like MSU.
Favorite and Least favorite drill in practice: My favorite drill in practice is Thursday Gaelic. If that’s not considered a drill then my favorite drill is any 1v1 2v2 or 2v3 tackling drill. My least favorite drill was playing goal line 99 defense.
What other sports have you played: The biggest sport that I played was soccer, I also ran track and played baseball in high school.
What do you see yourself doing in 5 years: in five years I see myself working a comfortable job with a wife and dog at home.
Embarrassing Childhood memory: I spent 10 hours making my middle school crush a necklace out of sea shells I found on the beach during spring break
Favorite place in Ann Arbor: It’s hard to say anything other than the big house
What’s your biggest fear? That I won’t be able to play 15’s this fall
What is your favorite food: A local restaurant in Holland has a delicious Thai chicken wrap, it’s my favorite food.
Game Day Superstitions: I wish I did, unfortunately I don’t have any game day superstitions. Maybe in the future I need to pick one up.
Who’s your favorite superhero: My favorite superhero is probably Iron Man. I just think his suit is pretty cool and he just seems like a chill guy.
Best advice I ever received: I have received a lot of advice but some of the best that I am going to try to do better at living by is work hard play hard. Sometimes i get caught up in the work and stress about the future gotta enjoy the present a little more.
