Why did you decide to play rugby?
A lot of my friends played in high school and told me I should try it out. I thought that it looked like more fun than badminton so why not give it a shot🤷♂️.
What have you liked about Michigan Rugby so far?
I really like the community and being a part of a team.
Describe your most memorable moment on the field.
Final B-side game at big 10s, I slotted a kick from very very wide to win us the game…I’m a pretty terrible kicker so that was very lucky.
What’s your most favorite rugby drill in practice? Least favorite?
I like anything set-piece related and my least favorite is 1 on 1 tackling.
What other sports have you played?
My parents had me try many sports in my childhood but the ones I stuck with are hockey and badminton.
What do you see yourself doing in five years?
In 5 years hopefully I will be in a PhD program for physics.
What is an embarrassing childhood memory that you can share with us?
I was playing soccer during recess in 6th grade and ran headfirst into a soccer goalpost. My mom had to pick me up to go to the hospital and I had a goose egg on my head for the next two weeks…luckily no concussion though!
What is your favorite place in Ann Arbor?
My favorite place in Ann Arbor is the East Quad Blue Café…It’s where I get most of my studying done.
What is your biggest fear?
Concussions 😨
What is your favorite food?
My favorite food is my mom’s pork and chives dumplings. I grew up eating them and I think they’re delicious!
Do you have any game-day superstitions? Explain.
I’m not a very superstitious person…it’s typically frowned upon in physics.
Who’s your favorite superhero? Why?
My favorite superhero is the Hulk. I think it’s super cool that a renowned physicist can also be super strong and that eventually he finds a balance between his two identities!
What is the best advice you have ever received?
My dad tells me that if I work hard enough good things will come my way. It’s a principle I try to live by.
Again, congratulations to our June Player of the Month, Raymond Li!
