Why did you decide to play rugby?
During sophomore year of high school, I wanted to try out a new sport. All my friends played rugby and my teacher was the coach, so I came out and loved it!
What have you liked about Michigan Rugby so far?
From my first day here, all the guys were like brothers to me, even though they didn’t know me. Throughout the months of the season, we got closer and closer, and these guys became the best friends I could ever ask for.
Describe your most memorable moment on the field.
My most memorable moment was when I subbed on to the MSU game during the last 10 minutes. I laid a big hit, which was super hype for the boys. It felt great to beat our rival!
What’s your most favorite rugby drill in practice? Least favorite?
My favorite drill is 3 on 2, backs against backs. This allows us to get creative and play good defense. My least favorite drill is dark places…it’s a conditioning drill that’s pretty rough.
What do you see yourself doing in five years?
First, I see myself getting a job. I also see myself going to law school!
What is an embarrassing childhood memory that you can share with us?
It was my senior year of high school. I leaned back in my chair, fell in the middle of the classroom, and everyone started laughing at me…
Do you have any game-day superstitions? Explain.
I can only listen to super calm music before games. If I listen to anything too loud or hype, then I will get way too excited for the game!
What is your favorite place in Ann Arbor?
The UGLI–you gotta keep the studies up!
What is your biggest fear?
Drowning.
What is your favorite food?
Sushi
Who’s your favorite superhero?
Nightwing
What is the best advice you have ever received?
A quote from the book The Death of Ivan Ilitch. In the end, Ivan Ilyich screams, “What joy!” This reminds me to be happy about everything I have in my life, no matter how hard it gets.
