Why did you decide to play rugby?
I saw the team around campus at different places during welcome week. I went to the team’s festifall booth and Tim Zamarow remembered seeing me earlier. He convinced me to come out to a practice. All the guys were fun and welcomed me from the start. Even though that first practice we did a Malcom, I came back the next day.
What have you liked about Michigan Rugby so far?
The community of the team is my favorite part, and that’s the main reason I’ve stuck with it until my senior year.
Describe your most memorable moment on the field.
Beating MSU this past year was probably my favorite game moment. Our b-side was struggling with numbers and MSU had enough to pretty much do a bomb squad, change out most of there scrum in the second half of the game. It was a close game, but we ended up winning. I had not beaten them yet. Both the B’s and A’s won so it was a fun weekend.
What’s your most favorite rugby drill in practice? Least favorite?
The wrestling partner circuit or can jam are my favorite. I can’t stand the Malcolm.
What do you see yourself doing in five years?
I want to be working as a design engineer. Hopefully making outdoors recreation equipment.
What is an embarrassing childhood memory that you can share with us?
I was probably in 4th grade, and I made this girl I had a crush on a Valentine saying I had a crush on her. She found the note in her desk, walked over to me, and ripped it up and threw it at me face.
Do you have any game-day superstitions? Explain.
Nope.
What is your favorite place in Ann Arbor?
1128 White St
What is your biggest fear?
Grasshoppers
What is your favorite food?
Probably Korean fried chicken, specifically from Hola Seoul.
Who’s your favorite superhero?
Batman
What is the best advice you have ever received?
Go on tour.
Again, congratulations to our June Player of the Month, Riley Gauthier!
