Why Rugby?

Throughout high school I was friends with a lot of guys on the rugby team. They always wanted me to come out and play, and through my exposure to the sport in Australia for a foreign exchange program and South Africa for service, I decided to give it a try my senior year. Once I joined I loved everything about the sport and the community surrounding it. It’s amazing how you become brothers with the guys on the team.

What have you liked about Michigan rugby the most so far?

The community and brotherhood surrounding this team is amazing. From the beginning I felt like I was a part of the Michigan rugby family. From the coaches to the players this is a really awesome group of guys to be with at practice, fight for on the field, and hang with outside of rugby.

Most memorable moment on the pitch?

Either playing at PPL my senior year for the HSCRC national sevens tournament against the Utah Lions or playing Colston from England over in Portugal.

What’s your favorite rugby drill in practice? Least Favorite?

My favorite drills is probably the full contact 2 on 1 or 3 on 2 drill. Least favorite is the triangle tackle drill.

What other sports have you played?

I have played a bunch of sports since I was young. I have played football, basketball, soccer, lacrosse, track and field, tennis and golf.

In five years, what do you see yourself doing?

Hopefully either in grad school or having a job that I love, and of course still playing rugby!

What’s some embarrassing childhood memories you can share with us?

I peed in my pants on the escalator coming out of the DC metro because I was afraid that Osama Bin Laden was coming to get me. I also ran through a screen door.

Favorite place in Ann Arbor?

Either the Big House or Zingerman’s.

Biggest fear?

Not succeeding.

Favorite food/meal?

Macaroni and Cheese.

Any game day superstitions?

I have to take a shower before every game and I have to put my kit on in a particular order.

Favorite superhero and why?

Either Batman or Iron Man because they weren’t born special but worked on different aspects of themselves to become great.

Best advice you’ve ever received?

Never try to be somebody that you’re not. Do you.
