Earlier in the semester, Ann Arbor player and leader Tom Stulberg along with U of M’s Chris Padmos and Chris Hopfner spent the afternoon teaching their favorite sport to kids enrolled in the local YMCA. The Y promotes many summer and after school sport programs and with the work of Tom, rugby has started to become a staple in the past few years.
Upon arriving at the field, a majority of the kids could not begin to explain the rules. However, by the end of the day, everyone was shouting for the ball in hopes of scoring a try. After a quick explanation of the game and some passing drills, the kids got on their way running non-stop for the next hour and a half. It was all smiles at the end of the day; perhaps the UMRFC has their first recruits of the 2020 class!
