The month’s highlight is on Eddie Schehr. A hooker and occasional prop born raised in Philly, Eddie played his high school rugby for Downingtown. Mr. Schehr is known for his quick wit and loyalty. Eddie’s commitment to the club has never waned since his first practice the fall of 2005. He regular attends UMRFC alumni events and continues to support the club’s efforts.

When did you play?
I played for four illustrious years from 2005-2009.

Any special honors (Officer positions, championships, etc?)
-I was fortunate to be able to be a social chair with Jayson “Can you feel this?” Fetterly and Kevin “Olde Man” Owens
-I was fortunate enough to also be president, and herd cats
-The legendary team of 2007-2008 won the Midwest and headed to Albuquerque

Favorite memory or memories?
-The first time I ever stepped on the pitch for UMRFC, under the lights against Bowling Green
-Travelling to Albuquerque, NM and eating chicken hearts
-Calculating some fuzzy math in the Czech Republic, and figuring out the European rail system
-Karl’s going away extravaganza
-Watching Ben Frey single handedly promoting Mexico to first world status
-Learning how hot ventilation ductwork can actually be
-Every road trip ever and the long nights and days travelling with my brothers

What are you doing now?
Working in the Philadelphia Shipyard, enjoying summer 7’s, and answering these questions.

Anything else you’d like us to know?
Michigan Rugby is the greatest brotherhood I have ever had the honor of being a part of. The friends and family that are the team, the coaches, and the supporting community are forever. If it wasn’t for the team, I most definitely would have dropped out of college, but the need to not let my best friends down kept me together. I am so thankful for the lifelong friends I created because of the team, and I look forward for every time I get to come home to Ann Arbor. God bless the Soiled Meat and Sand and God Bless America!

Eddie’s hard nosed play upon the pitch and sharp wit off of it was inspirational to say the least. He was a credit to the club while a student and continues to be as an Olde Boy. Thank you Eddie.
