Why did you decide to play rugby?
I wanted a sport where I can challenge myself physically and mentally, and I found that Rugby encompasses both at a very high level. It’s also a great outlet for stress reduction.
What have you liked about Michigan Rugby so far?
The community is unparalleled. From day one I felt included and pushed to always be my best self on and off the field.
Describe your most memorable moment on the pitch.
Playing a game against East RFC on a day where it was freezing cold, and the pitch was flooded. We literally had to avoid certain areas so we don’t drown when we were tackled. It was a grueling experience, and seriously challenged us physically, but overall one of my best memories.
What’s your most favorite rugby drill in practice? Least favorite?
Favorite: small grid 1v1
Least favorite: fitness
What other sports have you played?
Basketball, Tennis, Soccer
What do you see yourself doing in five years?
Hopefully still playing rugby in some sense, but back home in Egypt so I can make use of this opportunity I’ve had of living and learning in the US and using it to improve my community back home.
What is an embarrassing childhood memory that you can share with us?
I had a pretty mundane childhood, so nothing really.
What is your favorite place in Ann Arbor?
The Law Quad
What is your biggest fear?
Heights. Which is why I’m taking pilots lessons right now.
What is your favorite food?
Sushi
Do you have any game-day superstitions? Explain.
Just listening to some music on my way there, and getting a good night’s sleep.
Who is you favorite superhero and why?
Deadpool. He’s just a great guy.
What is the best advice you have ever received?
Always ask why.
