Dudes Outpace Sues, Ross Still Winless After Intrasquads Round 2

Canham blew out Ross in the second game of the night.

Intrasquads Round 2 ended with a bang, as frontrunner Dudes outlasted top challenger Sues in a thriller to close the night. Despite the excitement on the field, there wasn’t a single change in the standings this week; every team held its position.

1. Dudes

Round 2: Win vs. Jones (22-17), Win vs. Sues (21-19)

Dudes find themselves at the top of the Round 2 power rankings after an explosive performance all-around. Jordan Perez led the way with four tries, but it seemed as if his go-ahead conversion kick against Sues might have actually fallen wide left. Breakout performances were also delivered by Bill Young and Chris Hanlon. Dudes will have their hands full next week as they try to continue their streak atop the rankings. Will they survive against Ross?

2. Sues

Round 2: Win vs. Benny (12-10), Loss vs. Dudes (19-21)

Jack Vecchio rumbled his way into the try zone to keep the Sues in the win column against Benny, despite star player Jamie Demers getting a controversial red card minutes into the game. Sues’ second matchup of the night was even closer. They traded off tries with Dudes for much of the game, but missed a critical conversion kick late in the second half. Dudes benefited from a couple of lucky calls, and Sues lost by two. The team will look to bounce back next week with a full roster and easier schedule.

3. Benny

Round 2: Loss vs. Sues (10-12), Win vs. Canham (19-14)

Liam Clancy and Niko Kyriacou each scored tries against Sues, but the team couldn’t convert either of its conversion kicks. Nathan Feldman went down early against Canham with an apparent tear in his pride, so the Bennies called on young stud freshman Grant Sasina. Sasina, Juan Marco, and Pablo Ballesteros each tacked on incredible solo-effort tries to lift the Bennies in a come from behind victory. With losses against Dudes and Sues and wins against the lower tier teams, the Bennies have solidified themselves in the middle of the pack.

4. Canham

Round 2: Win vs. Ross (32-10), Loss vs. Benny (14-19)

Canham demolished Ross and placed themselves in excellent position to win against Benny, but couldn’t pull through. With 82 points through two rounds, Canham has enough offensive firepower to compete with anyone, but can’t tackle for anything. This is the second straight week that the team has blown a late lead.

5. Jones

Round 2: Loss vs. Dudes (17-22), Win vs. Ross (29-7)

Jones surprised in Round 2, keeping the game close against Dudes before crushing Ross. Jones is now one point from third place, but we’ve kept them at fifth in our power rankings given that two of the tries they scored this week were from guest player George Janke (Sues). Davis Grimm and Sari Muallem each managed two tries this week, but scrumhalf Devan Gupta—who averaged three passes a game—had none.

6. Ross

Round 2: Loss vs. Canham (10-32), Loss vs. Jones (7-29)

Despite strong performances from Eoin Sansevero and Nate Orlowski, Ross was unable to come away with a win in two games that were closer than the score shows. Each of those losses were highlighted by strong offensive games from Eoin, who contributed 70% of the team’s points on the night. Jones struggled consistently with turnovers throughout the night, and while their squad is teeming with potential, they also lost Alex Leichter early in the night to an undisclosed knee injury.
