Why did you decide to play rugby?
I was craving competition more serious than casual pickup basketball and I had always heard great things about rugby from people that I played other sports with in the past. I’m very glad I decided to give it a shot.

What have you liked about Michigan Rugby so far?
I really enjoy how everyone is always pushing to get better, whether that be on the field or in the weight room. It’s very easy to be motivated to work as hard as you can when everyone around you is doing the same. The camaraderie of the team is fantastic.

Describe your most memorable moment on the field
Getting laid out by Thomas Majure during my very first practice.

What’s your most favorite rugby drill in practice? Least favorite?
My favorite drill has to be CanJam, although continuous touch is also a good one. Least favorite is anything that has to do with dark places.

What other sports have you played?
Football, basketball, and baseball.

What do you see yourself doing in five years?
Hopefully traveling the world, but most likely doing some sort of graduate program.

What is an embarrassing childhood memory that you can share with us?
I dressed up as a dirty laundry basket for Halloween in 5th grade… I find it more awesome than embarrassing but some would disagree.

What is your favorite place in Ann Arbor?
The Arb.

What is your biggest fear?
The open ocean.

What is your favorite food?
Filet mignon.

Do you have any game-day superstitions? Explain.
I don’t have any set superstition, but if we win I do the same pregame for the next game.

Who is your favorite superhero and why?
Batman for sure. I played all the video games when I was younger.

What is the best advice you have ever received?
To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did.

Again, congratulations to our February Player of the Month, Alex Olsen!
