Michigan Head Coaches Receive Crusaders Grant

The United States Rugby Foundation (USRF) is providing a grant to 10 American rugby coaches that pays for a coaching course with the Crusaders. The Crusaders, who play in Christchurch, New Zealand, are 10-time Super Rugby champions and are one of the best professional rugby clubs in the world. USRF announced the recipients last week, and both of Michigan’s head rugby coaches won the award.

Matt Trenary, our head coach, and Jamie Frech, the head coach of Michigan’s women’s team, had to apply for the award in a selective process that included an essay. They will participate in the Crusaders’ coaching program from March 28 to April 9, and will be able to apply what they learn during the second half of their clubs’ spring seasons.
