Spring 2020 Schedule Almost Finalized

Last week, Michigan Rugby finalized most of its game schedule for Spring 2020. As always, the 7s team will participate in tournaments throughout the months of March and April. Meanwhile, the developmental spring XVs team has games against other teams from Michigan.

The 7s team has a scrimmage against Western Michigan on March 13, and then travels to its first tournament–Notre Dame 7s–on March 28. The following Saturday, April 4, is a big day. The 7s B-side will head to Dayton, while the A-side will travel all the way to Annapolis for the Navy 7s Invitational. Michigan Rugby attends one major tournament like this one each year–in previous years the team has gone to Buffalo and Kansas City among other destinations.

On April 11, the 7s squad will attend Illinois 7s in Champaign, Illinois, before finally receiving a break from the travel on April 18, when the Wolverines will host the Michigan 7s tournament. The 7s season culminates with the Big Ten Tournament in Chicago. Check out a summary of the 7s schedule below.

Players who aren’t selected for the 7s team will play a short XVs schedule that prioritizes development and preparation for the main XVs season next fall. XVs players can expect to play about four games this spring, two of which are already scheduled. On April 4, the Wolverines play Oakland University at home. On April 11, the XVs will participate in the Detroit Tradesmen Rugby Tournament in Detroit.
