Fall 2021 Season Preview

Michigan Rugby is back on campus and is set to start the fall season with a battle against Adrian College on August 27th at Mitchell Field in 6 PM. The following week on September 3rd, Michigan Rugby sets its sights on Ohio against Bowling Green at 6 PM. Some notable games include a home game against Ohio State on September 24th and Michigan State on October 29th, one week before the Big Ten Championship.

There are is also a minor change to the Big Ten. Officially, the University of Minnesota has left the Big Ten Conference.

The team returns 46 players from last year’s team. Newly elected captains Carter Lyon and Nathan Feldman will lead the way. Of those players, 15 will be seniors. Other notable players includes George Janke, who played with the Detroit Tradesmen this summer, as well as Tommy Hendricks, a sophomore who played for both the Forest Hills Deadheads and Beer City Beefcakes.

Michigan Rugy is also introducing 10 new players into the upcoming season. This year, we have added Otto Janke from McLean, VA, Shea Loughnane from Westwood, MA, Ryan Grover in Cromwell, CT, Ben Henchman from Sydney, Australia, Tim Zamarro from Hudson, OH, Maans Mannerfelt, an exchange student from Sweden, Brendan Nell, from Commerce, MI, Nic Granchalek from Evanston, IL, Max Meston from Grand Rapids, MI, and Justin Ladd from Bellevue, MI.

The squad will boast more than 50 players heading into the 2021-2022 season. All will be needed as the team faces a challenging schedule. Come support them at all home games. Mitchell Field is located at 1900 Fuller Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48105.
