Steve Chapman is our March Alumnus of the Month! Steve played from 1969-1972 and was a jack of all trades on the field, playing over 5 different positions throughout his rugby career. He switched from wrestling to rugby after his freshman year and never looked back.
As recently as 2020, Michigan Rugby conducted a multi-week intrasquad sevens tournament each winter. Scheduled during the off-season, intrasquads present an avenue for increased team engagement through fun competition. This Winter semester, Michigan Rugby participated in the 2021 Polar Plunge for Special Olympics. Each year, the Polar Plunge series challenges thousands of jumpers around the United States to get involved with supporting the Special Olympics here in Michigan.
Nathan Feldman is a 6’1” wing from Potomac, MD. A junior, he’s a major contributor both on the field and as a club officer.
Ethan Kaminski is a 5’9″ Forward from Ada, Michigan. A junior, he’s a major contributor on the field and has even broke past lifting records!
Angelo Tocco is our February Alumnus of the Month! He played for Michigan Rugby from 1973-1977, when he was a team captain. He was a flanker that played with some of the best, and fell in love with rugby as soon as he stepped on the pitch, even though his high school sport was football.
After a Fall Semester with limited socially-distanced activity, Michigan Rugby will return to full-team practices after the February 8th stay-at-home order is lifted. Strict safety protocols continue to be enforced during practice in order to protect players and the local community.
Robert Gault is our January Alumnus of the Month! He played as a hooker for the University of Michigan from 1968 to 1971 while attending law school here.
Bill Young is a 5’11” prop from Naperville, Illinois. A junior, he’s a major contributor both on the field and as a club officer.
While it’s more common for players to leave the team in May, two players are graduating after completing the Fall 2020 semester. Logan Fettes and Davis Grimm both made significant contributions to the club.
